Founded/am CEO of an international nonprofit that is active in 21 states and 8 countries; we have high school students who tutor local students; I then use this money to finance micro loans to people in developing countries (through Kiva.org, a micro loaning NGO) for education related ventures. We have been active for 3 months and have funded 9 education and the construction of a water filtration system for a school in Uganda (included this just to show that we’re actually doing stuff).

My biggest concern is that it looks like for first semester junior year I might have 1-2 B’s, possibly in French 3 and in AP US History; these classes at my school are ridiculously difficult. Will this ruin my chances, or will a couple B’s be ok? (sorry for puns) Thanks!

Your extracurricular are unique and that is definitely a great thing. I really don’t think 1-2 Bs will harm you considering you are saludictioran.

Thanks, that’s reassuring haha

Those schools are some of the best in America. Most schools are holistic but the requirements for ACT, SAT and GPA scores seem pretty tight. Your scores fit but don’t really go into the top so it shows you have somewhat of a chance. You’re taking a lot of community college courses so that seems good. I think you might need some subject scores to add on since most top schools like those three require subject scores, get that checked. Your best selling point is the CEO thing, be sure to write A LOT abt it maybe in your essay so you can sell yourself out. People who go to schools like those are not just performing well in school but have special things to make themselves stand out so be sure to make yourself stand out. Good luck and remember everything is holistic so you’ll always have a chance!!!

Thanks!

Your biggest concern is limited ECs. You one big one is decent, but starting junior year is kind of late. Also, no science related ECs could be an issue at Caltech and MIT.

Would it help that I also write for the school newspaper, am a member of JSA, and a co founder of the Jewish student union at my school? Unfortunately I don’t have access to many science related EC’s
