Please chance me for a few schools!

<p>Hey all! I'm currently a junior, so I understand that these stats aren't complete. I will make a few projections as to some stats. </p>

<p>Reach schools: CalTech, MIT, Stanford, Princeton
Goal Schools: UC Berkeley, Harvey Mudd, Columbia
Safety Schools: UCSD, Georgia Tech, UC Davis</p>

<p>SAT I (one sitting, this fall): 2350
Math: 770
CR: 800
Writing: 780 (essay: 8)
PSAT - soph: 217, junior: 234
SAT II: None yet, plan to take Math II, Chem, Physics, and U.S. history</p>

<p>APs -
Soph: Euro (5) and Calc AB (5)
Junior (currently taking, all projected 5s): U.S. History, Calc BC, Physics B, and Chemistry; also, self-studying physics C (mech. and E/M), expect 5s in both.
If I get 4s or 5s on all of these, that'd give me 8 total by the end of junior year, hence national AP scholar.
Senior (plan to take): Lit./Comp., Gov., Econ (Macro., might self-study micro.)</p>

<p>Currently self-studying linear algebra/multivar. calc. Plan to take diff. eq., biology, and more physics at local community college senior year.
Also, by the end of next (senior) year, will have 4 years of Japanese (non-native speaker). 2 years of band.
I'm fluent in Russian, read well, and can write to an extent - it was my first language, although I was born here, in America. Low-income family. </p>

<p>E.C./volunteering/etc. -
- Volunteered 60 hours at local library, over 50 hours peer tutoring at school (mostly math/chem)
- paid tutor (mostly math)
- do BBYO, international Jewish youth group, since two summers ago; held/hold leadership positions in my local chapter: teacher last term, president this term (many hours per week)
- am learning HTML/CSS/JavaScript to make website for my chapter
- I have an in to a research internship at UC Berkeley for next summer (I live nearby); also applying for BLIPS (summer Berkeley research internship, LBNL sponsored, 40 hour workweeks all summer)
- 1 year tennis, might do again this year (really nothing to write about)
- starting engineering club at school (just starting it now)</p>

<p>I think I might write about my BBYO leadership experience in a college essay, although the internship might be influential, so who knows.</p>

<p>Sorry for all of the info!!! I don't think I have a good chance at any of my reach schools, but I'd be happy going to Berkeley. I plan to major in either physics or materials science.
Please chance me! :)</p>

<p>Also, I’m self-studying physics C because my school doesn’t offer it.
I go to a relatively competitive school in a very competitive district, and I’m in the top 5 in my grade (school doesn’t rank, just my estimate).
I expect at least one very good rec letter, from my physics teacher, to whom I’ve grown close!</p>

<p>Oh, I can’t calculate my GPA yet, but seven classes all three years so far. All academic As so far (one B and one C, both in P.E. - special circumstances*). Will have a B in AP U.S. History this semester though.
*special circumstances = I have headache/migraine/insomnia problems, so I miss a lot of school. P.E. is mostly graded by attendance/participation.</p>

<p>Sorry to persist, but BUMP!</p>

<p>Bumpppppp!</p>

<p>You’re such a competitive applicant. Write some great essays and get some great letters of recommendation and you should be set. I believe you could get in MIT. I mean we can never guess but you seem to have a good chance.</p>

<p>I agree with TinnyT, you should be very competitive. You seem to have really done everything right. Just explain your low PE grades in your app… migraines are a pretty legitimate health issue</p>

<p>Thank you both! Yeah - there are accompanying doctor’s notes, so there’s documentation and everything.
I think essays will be good, thank you! Here’s to hoping for MIT!</p>

<p>Have decent essays/LORs/interviews and you’re in at all. That’s all I can say.</p>
