Wondering if goals realistic

I’m a junior at an inner city school

Reach Schools: MIT, Princeton, Columbia

AP’s: Calc AB (5), Calc BC, Bio (5), Chem, US History, Physics C, Gov, Lit*

  • means I’ll be taking it next year

Currently taking Multivariable Calculus (I have an A) at community college, planning on taking Linear Algebra in fall and Diff Eq in spring of senior year.

GPA: Weighted 4.34, UW 3.97
Rank: 1/493
ACT: Composite 33. I am going to retake it and am hoping for ~35
PSAT: 1490/1520. Took the new SAT, haven’t gotten score back (test was free and during a school day).

E.C.'s: Writer/editor for school newspaper, member of JSA, member of JSU (Jewish student union)

Founded a nonprofit that operates in 10 countries, 19 states. We have high school volunteers that tutor kids in their area; I then use this money to finance micro-loans to people in developing countries to help pay for their educations. At time of writing I have made 21 loans for a total of ~$5,000. Nonprofit has 80 volunteers.

Rowing for 8-9th grade, have won various medals including bronze at northwest regionals for frosh 8
Mountain biking for 10th grade
Track/Field for 11-12th grades

I am mostly worried because I received a B in French 3 in the fall of junior year (definitely getting an A for spring semester), and I have a very good chance of getting a B in AP Chemistry for spring semester. Would this hurt my app too much for my reach schools? These would be my only 2 B’s of high school.

Thanks!

You’re fine.

lol thanks

I thought Math 2 and a Science SAT 2 were required for MIT admissions? Or does taking the ACT cover it in one foul swoop? Also, to answer your original question: yes. Your goals are realistic, just grab a few safeties and matches you like to keep yourself covered.

Yup, I’ll be taking those in June of this year. And that’s good to hear haha - definitely not banking on getting in, so ive made sure to find some less competitive schools that i really like (Umichigan, washington U, etc.)
