Hoping to study music for undergrad while taking prerequisites for predental, tips??

I have several questions, any answers would be greatly appreciated!

  1. I am trying to apply to prestigious schools through a music major; will I have a better chance to get into these universities (Cornell, Duke, UMich) if I apply as music major rather than a science major? Especially knowing that schools like Duke don’t have a top tier school of music, and may want to attract more applicants in that field. (ALSO, will they be more lenient on my grades and SAT subject tests if I am applying for music?)

  2. Are these renown public universities with not as great music schools be generous with scholarships if I apply as a music major, especially if they are need of music students?

  3. Is it possible, feasible, or even practical to study music as an undergraduate major at one of these universities while taking science and the other prereq’s for pre-dentistry? Will it be too hard to balance both arts and sciences?

  4. Will dental school really be more interested in a undergrad music major over a traditional science major?

Side note: I have been a competitive pianist since age ten, and have won in local and state competitions. I want to try a different approach to Dental school, instead of going the traditional biology/biochem majors. Please help, thanks!

also, I rank in the top 10% by weighted GPA in my high school, and my school is pretty competitive (I’m from Seattle). My SAT score is 2100 but my subject tests are in the 600’s range, will that hinder me?
