Confused with Selecting Major

Hey everybody, I hope that most of you who are applying to Cornell University this fall will be accepted. Best of luck!

I just took a look at the list of majors under the Arts and Science school at Cornell and I noticed that they do not offer Pre-Med or Pre-Dentistry. I am pretty sure I want to become a dentist in the future, but since Cornell's Arts and Science school does not offer Pre-Dentistry, what's the closest major to Pre-Dentistry I should apply to? I'm kind of confused as to what major I should apply under and I want to get the closest thing to Pre-Dentistry as possible. Thanks all!

For CAS you can declare undecided major when you apply. Premed can actually refer to students from several colleges, including CAS, CALS and HumEc. Although there is no specific premed major, you can basically be any major as long as you are able to satisfy the course requirements for med school. However, many premeds are biology, for obvious reasons.

I’d like to clear up some thing TskDbx said:

You can be pre-med or pre-dental in ANY COLLEGE and ANY MAJOR. Yes, most of them are bio or some other bio-related major. It is nothing but a set of courses and recommendations to get into med school or dental school.

No college offers “pre-med” or “pre-dentistry”. You need to research what it really takes to become prepared to apply to a medical school or a dental school.

Actually, Boston University does offer a Pre-medical/Pre-dentistry program :/, so I was naturally confused when Cornell didn’t offer one.

All schools provide pre-med or pre-dentistry counseling and even a “program” where they counsel students how to prepare for the future application process. However no “pre-med” or “pre-med” major exists.

There is no such thing as a “Pre-med” or “Pre-Dent” major. You can pick ANY major you like and just take the Pre-med/Pre-dent requirements.

if accepted, there is a cornell dental society that you can join
