Hello everyone! I just found out that I have received the Hopkins 5 award. Can anyone shed some light onto what exactly this entails?

is it a scholarship? did they provide a link?

I’m wondering this too, because I got it as well! I can’t seem to find it on their website, funnily enough…

If i had to venture a guess, I’d say it has something to do with free master’s degree if you choose to get it as part of a 5 year BS/MS program.

My son got it also, the email says it caps the students loan responsibility at 5,000 dollars over the 4 years. Therefore Hopkins 5

So what does the $14K grant thing mean?

Grants are money given by the University that does not have to be repaid. Generally comes from JHU 2.7Billion dollar endowment. So don"t sweat it Mr. SwagDaddy.

I also received this award (to my very pleasant surprise!), but I’m a little confused. Is the Hopkins 5 award the same thing as the JHU Grant listed under “disbursements?”

I think it is, the more I look at it…

I called the financial aid office and here’s what it means. A typical JHU financial aid package consists of some grant money and some loan money. Typically, the loans make up 19K total over 4 years. Under Hopkins 5, $14K of that $19K is grant money, and only $5K has to be paid back.
