question about financial aid

I know the best way to ask question is call the financial aid office, but I'm too anxious to confirm it before the weekend is over. I just cant' wait that long.

Award Year/Type: 2007-2008/ASEN - Ugrad
Award Name: Early Decision Grant
Type Of Award: Award
Amount: $44,900.00
Scheduled Amount: $44,900.00

The other slots are blank.

Does this mean I'm getting $44900 for my freshman year and probably get around the same amount consequent years? So my total cost per year in JHU is only around $5000 a year? The amount is just so huge for me to believe so I have to confirm it before I go and celebrate :)

lucky =( >< envy...lol =D

just wondering...if anyone knows...is there any way to appeal for an increase in grant? >< =( like if something drastic has happened?

In general, if something BIG has changed (a parent lost a job, parents get divorced, someone is majorly sick/disabled all of a sudden), they are quite good about making changes. But you have to talk to them, tell them what happened, and provide documentation.

thanks =D (char................................)

Wait...so is this free money or money that you have to eventually pay back?

grant=free =D >< sigh fastfingers u got so much o.O =(

i know. I'm so happy. Almost as happy as when I got accepted into JHU. Wow the college process couldn't have been better. Accepted into my first choice JHU under Early decision, didn't have to do any other college app(minimal work), and practically a full ride. I feel so lucky.

Were you expecting this grant...? I just completely blew off my Fafsa and CSS profile thingy because I thought I wouldn't be eligible for anything because my family's income is pretty high...

Meh...I guess it's too late anyway. bit jealous xD

all jealous of fastfingers =D lol

oh i definitely was expecting a grant, just maybe not this much. I used the financial aid estimate calculator and it said I only had to pay 5000$ a year. I was doubtful at that time, but now I know its true. My family income is low, but I do have an asset in mainly my home. I was afriad that would influence my chances a lot, but apparently JHU doesn't want families selling their houses for kids to go to college.

Ah...so it was a need based grant ? Then congratulations for you! I thought you had a full merit based scholarship and got a bit jealous :)

I never thought that a need based grant would cover all of tuition...I am scrounging around for small scholarships xD

:) no way i could get a full merit. i was surprised I got accepted in the first place
