Hopkins for Pre-med?

I am debating whether to apply as a transfer to Hopkins. I will be a pre-med student and I know Hopkins is good for biology and researching and what not. However, is there stiff competition between your peers? Is everyone a cut-throat pre-med type? Also, I heard theres grade deflation at hopkins and it's pretty hard to get a gpa above 3.8+. How accurate is that statement?

-Thanks

this was discussed sooo mannnyyy times, and we are all too lazy to post again =(
Look through past threads in this forum it has sooo many rsps to your questions

Having heard this so many times, I can comment as a current undergrad. The competition you speak of is non-existent. Too often is determination confused with cut-throatedness. I have not met anyone that is anything but cordial. Further, it is commonly thought that Hopkins has terrible grade deflation which leads to miserable students and lives. This, also, has no truth to it. While the courses are very difficult (more so than the classes my friends take at Brown and Penn), if you work hard, you will not be punished. A GPA of a 3.8 is high, and will take a great amount of work, but if I was able to do it my first semester at Hopkins, I'm sure you can do it with a good amount of work.

So, everything you have heard is false. Coming from Hopkins will do nothing but greatly enhance your application to medical school.

Are you taking general or organic chemistry?
