I have been hearing that pre-med at Hopkins is really cut-throat and that its tough to get through. Any truth in that? Is it something where you try hard and still dont get good grades?

yes, it is somewhere where u go and try and won;t get good grades and ask urself why when in hs u didn;t even need to try to get good grades and why that ur upperclassmen in the same course who had lower sat scores than u did r still getting better grades than u do, but it's the same thing as any other peer undergrads -_-

It's well know for its Med school, as we all know.
The top Pre-meds go there to get into the Med school.

Yet, why would you go there, try your hardest and get bad grades, rather than to a less pre-med competitive school, where you would get good grades.

it doesn;t matter which undergrad u go to if u put in the same effort and change ur lifestyle

Ok, all 3 replies to this thread have had horrible grammar and spelling and formatting, for one thing. Also, they've had such reasoning as "If I score higher on the SAT than someone else, I should be getting better grades than them in college", which is also terrible. They've also made no sense.

Here's a Hopkins Interactive thread on the issue of "Is Hopkins Cut-throat"

Plus, there are like a bajillion other threads where Hopkins students discuss what's it's like to be a student at Hopkins. Do some searching.

It is NOT a place where you go, study to death, and fail. It's just NOT.

and dark_hope, I suggest using grammar check next time. Your posts would be all kinds of green underlined.

yes lol, it would be all underlined green!!! but i'm sure many freshmen will be asking themselves why they aren't going to be doing as well as they originally believed probably due to as i said effort and lifestyle or others lol but shelly sat scores and grades were meant to predict a little on college performance were they not. if not at all, i'm srry i was mistaken

oh opps, reading back on ur comment and quote, i think u may have misread what i wrote due to the poor grammar, srry my fault =(

All grammar discussions aside, venator I really suggest you check out the Hopkins Forums thread that shelly posted. You can also use the College Confidential Search function to find about 10-15 other threads asking the same question (just search the JHU Forum with the word "cut-throat").
