Hi, I am deciding between Hopkins and William & Mary. I have heard the rumor that Hopkins students have no social life. When I went to SOHOP, my host student and her friends said that boys are either super weird and nerdy or they’re just assholes. Is this true? What is the dating/social life really like at Hopkins?
That’s a very subjective question, you have nerds and geeks, of course. You also have the athletic type, given Lacrosse, football, baseball teams, etc… Sororities and frats also mingle through date parties. Basically, you’ll find someone you’re interested in (LOL) with a student body over 10,000 between undergrad and grad schools.
There is a social life and between JHU and William and Mary, Jhu is clearly the better school. Good luck!

ugcllg hit the nail on the head. Hopkins has an undergraduate student body of over 5,000 people (about half of which are male). Some are weird, nerdy, or **** but most are not. There are guys involved in athletics, greek life, community service, music and theater, and (yes) more nerdy pursuits. Some are “strong”, some “sensitive”, some are d-bags, some are “attractive”, and some are “not so attractive”. If you mingle with enough students you’ll find someone you like.
As for the “what is the dating / social life like at Hopkins?”, I imagine it’s about the same as it is in any reasonably large school. I have no real point of comparison.
