Hopkins with an 1850?

Do I have a chance at all applying ED to hopkins with these scores?

550 on RC
650 on Math
600 on Writing

I do extremely well in AP Lit and I am first generation Ethiopian, does that compensate for the RC?

PS: Yes I know it takes more than SAT's to get accepted, but I'm just curious if they will defer me or reject me because of these shoddy scores.

While lower than the norm for JHU, your shot is still great for being a VERY VERY URM, and being the first to ever go to college. I think your chances are still very good.

Thanks for the reply. I'd greatly appreciate some more opinions though.

I dont think anything more needs to be said IMHO. I think unless you retake your SAT to get a higher score, it may help. But as of now, it is not like its going against you due to the fact your Ethiopian (a very rare URM at colleges in the USA)

write a moving essay on your heritage and I think you're in !

Essays regarding diversity generally work. Especially when it is about first generation students from URM countries. Good luck to you.

My essay is actually regarding my experiences playing the euphonium. I don't want to get into the specifics because not many people have gone through a similar, dramatic paradigm shift via a low brass instrument seeing as how not many people my age are talented at one.

Would writing about my musical experience while at the same time conveying who I am as a person be compelling enough?

....and with a 750 on the math you're definitely in.

^I don't know how you got a 650 math cuz in my book
550+650+600 = 1800

Typo I guess.
