Dartmouth is without a doubt my ideal school, in terms of both academics and student life. I spent a few weeks in Hanover for a camp way back when, and I essentially lived on the campus, ate in the cafeteria, and I've loved the school ever since. I have also spent a seperate summer in Hanover to visit my sister (a Dartmouth alumni) and I found the town as captivating as ever. Therefore, I plan to Early Decision the school. I have some worries about the chances of my acceptance however and so I have decided to follow suit of other people and post my background to be evaluated.

Please tell me how badly my junior grades are going to held against me. Thank you.

You are a very appealing candidate, but to assess your chances requires more information. What are your SAT II scores? What is your class rank, both for junior year and for your first three years of high school? What courses are you taking senior year? Have you taken the most rigorous course load available to you?

Our school does not have class rankings, as each grade has about 700-800 kids, but as a side note, our school is a specialized high school (Stuyvesant high school) and therefore about a majority of the students in my grade have a 90+ average.

I have no SAT II scores that I would want to send colleges right now, but I plan to take SAT II Literature and Math 2C this fall.

My senior year classes are as follows: AP Great Books, AP Government, AP Calculus AB, Electronics, Wall Street, and Jazz Band.

I took one of the few AP courses offered to sophmores during 10th grade (AP Euro), I took the courses AP English Language+Composition, AP US History, AP Environmental junior year, and I have already mentioned my Senior year courses. As an aside, my parents are both Korean, but I was born in New York.

Having just gotten out of the high school-->college admissions hype while Its great that you love Dartmouth, def. have a backup and know that there is more then one colleges out there besides Dartmouth.

your SAT's are good, do well on the II's and you should be fine, I was a B+/A- student in HS and I ended up getting in (long road though...)
