So, I got my SSAT scores, and this is what they are:
Verbal: 94th percentile (767/800)
Quantitave : 38th percentile (671/800)
Reading: 73rd percentile (700/800)
My overall percentile was only 77.
At first I saw that I had gotten a 2137/2400, and I thought that was fine until I looked at my percentile ratings, which are clearly sub par.
I’m applying to Phillips Andover (which is now but a dream) and Williston Northampton. My GPA isn’t anything outstanding (3.75) with only 2 honours classes. I’m trying to remain as optimistic as possible, as I know that more than just scores go into acceptance, but in anyone who has had experience applying to boarding schools’ opinion, what do you think my chances are?
How did you get a 2137/2400 with those scores? That makes no sense. …unless I am missing something. I think you have very little shot at Andover unless you are a legacy, star athlete or have some other unusual skill or talent.
Oh, I meant to put 2138, I better edit that. (That was the total scaled, which was all of those added together). And sadly, I am a very boring person, the only somewhat unusual talent I have is HTML (which was in my application) but that isn’t really that challenging to learn (if you’re dedicated you could learn a lot of it in a day or two). Anyways, thanks for your input!
I would recommend that you focus on highlighting some extracurriculars that demonstrate real passion and commitment. Kids with 99 SSAT and 4.0 might not get in without something that makes them special.
