Hi guys. I have a 2.673 unweighted GPA and a 3.528 weighted GPA. My class rank is 85 out of 237 on the weighted scale and 106 on the unweighted scale. My grades have been generally horrible, with a few inconsistencies due to the fact that I really only do well in classes that I enjoy. I'm not here to give some sob story about why my grades are bad, but rather I come to this forum as a concerned senior hoping to even get into the University of South Carolina. My family is pushing really hard that I try and get into Emory University, but I'm realistic in my low chances into getting into Emory. I'm hoping that I can at least get into Oxford Emory (although it is still a stretch for me) with these grades, and the following extracurriculars. President of Civitans, Varsity Tennis Team ('11-'13) and Varsity Golf Team ('14-'15). In addition I'm in the process of founding a debate team for my school, but that is essentially all I've done. I'm thinking the biggest advantage I have is that I've done hundreds of hours of Community & Service and I've found it to be a consistency in my life. I know still, though, that hundreds of other kids applying outrank me in nearly everything. So I come to you guys in shame, on my knees, asking this.
Are my in state schools a reach for me?
What are my chances of getting into Oxford Emory?
How can I improve my chances?
Thanks in advance.

The reason my weighted GPA is so much higher is that I am in the IB program, although I feel that the rigor does not really outweigh the low GPA, and I’m sure colleges will feel the same way.
