Help me increase my chances of admission at Emory

Hello all,

I'm currently a junior, but thinking about applying Early Decision 1 next year.
Currently:
3.49 unweighted
3.69 weighted (but the weighted will probably go up to 3.9 or 4.0 by the time I apply)
My SAT is at 1800, but I know that will increase also. I've only taken it once.
I know my unweighted won't increase much, but what should I try to get my SAT up to to really increase my chances as well as weighted GPA?
My SAT goal is 2200.

Please help!

How will you increase your weighted GPA without increasing your unweighted GPA?

A strong upward GPA trend and a 2150 SAT is your best bet.

Continue any ECs you’ve done in the past. Try to get some “above and beyond” responsibilities in them.

Well, I feel that my unweighted GPA won’t increase as substantially as my weighted GPA will because I’m an IB Diploma Candidate. This year though, I have been getting much better grades than usual (first trimester was a 3.8 unweighted and a 4.5 Weighted). Thanks a lot for your advice by the way.

I don’t understand.

Isn’t anything that affects your weighted GPA also going to affect your unweighted GPA?

Are you going to have classes that only count for one?

Yes but all my classes are weighted college level classes

And they will of course affect both GPAs

Dude, if it affects both… won’t it affect the lower GPA more than the higher one?

My high school didn’t have weighted courses, so I’m not sure how they work. But, the way I am understanding you, it makes no sense mathematically.

Regardless, do the stuff I told you earlier.

Alright haha. Hey where do you go to college now?

He (I think) goes to Emory.

Have you considered taking the ACT?

Yes, I’ve taken the PLAN and the PSAT, and I did a lot better on my PSAT then on my PLAN, so I’m definitely going to stick with the SAT. I know that with hard work and tutoring I can probably get my score up to the 2100-2200 range.
