Virginia Intermont College in Bristol VA one of the best in Equine Science. Their Equestrian team won nationals last 2 or 3 years. Its the largest major for this very small college. My daughter attends there and loves the equine program, however school is small so u don't get a big university experience. Their is a program in Ohio that is very good--can't think of the name right now.

Depending on her stats, take a look at Cornell's College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. They have an Animal Studies program, which I know includes horses (although I'm not sure if you can limit yourself to horses).

Also, Cornell's Aggie is a state school, so if you live in NY, you'd pay in-state tuition.

NC State has an animal studies (BS) major (actually 2, one for industry and one for pre-vet science). NC State also has a vet school which specializes in equine science. The undergrad program has an area of concentration specifically for horses. Also specializes in dairy, small ruminents, wildlife and exotic, poultry, beef and swine.

The school has research units set up surrounding the university each located on several acres of land. There are facilities for breeding thoroughbreds and training. The units have classrooms, offices, labs, training facilities, barns and sleeping and living quarters for students (undergrads, but can be grad or vet) participating in the research. The grounds are adjacent to the vet school. I think there are seven or eight units. My daughter has participated in a very successful breeding and foaling program.

Also, many of the undergrad profs are also the profs for the vet school in their specialized areas.

NC State is a state school, around $4000 per year in-state, uncertain of the out-of-state.

U Mass Amherst and Maryland also have good programs.

UNC and NC State are two different schools, Antarius. Graduating early usually isn't a good idea because colleges are hesitant to admit juniors, although it does happen.

Sweet Briar College has one of the top equestrian teams. It's an all girls college and I'm not sure if they have a degree in equine but i think they have a degree in animal studies and a I'm positive they have a certificate in Equine! It's a beautiful campus too!

I'm looking for colleges with an equine major as well. I found some colleges on collegeboard.com like: Cazenovia College(NY), Johnosn + Wales University (RI) Midway College (KY) Mount Ida (MA) William Woods (OH) they have a really nice campus and specialize in all sorts of horsie stuff, Averett (VA) also has a great equine program, smaller school though. Hope this helps, and any others would be appreciated!
