Hospital Volunteering

Hi, has anybody had any experience in the Care Extender program at UCLA? I participated in the Clinical Care Extender Program at Palomar Hospital and thought it was a pretty great experience in terms of direct patient contact. I regularly got to feed patients, take vitals, bathe them, change heart monitor leads, etc., as well as getting to witness some cool procedures in a variety of settings. I figured that the UCLA one would be very similar, but I've been reading very negative things about it here. Also, I noticed how all the descriptions on the site used "observe" regularly (instead of doing) and even read somewhere that extensive patient contact wasn't allowed and that for the most part it's clerical work. So I was wondering how much patient contact this program actually entails, and what specific duties CE's have clearance to do. Any insight would be appreciated.
