Volunteering at a hospital

I was wondering what the best hospital to volunteer between the care extenders program at the hospital in Santa Monica or would being a volunteer at the Ronald Reagan hospital be better. Which one of these hospitals would provide a better learning experience? Any advice would be helpful.
thank you!

I think it depends on what program that you volunteer through. My old roommate volunteered for the Ronald Regan Hosiptal and ended up only doing filing... I think CARE Extenders may offer more hands on experience in the medical field.

I heard it was the other way around.

i would HIGHLY recommend cedar sinai if you can find a way to get there

As a volunteer, you're not going to get any "hands on" anything - look into a scribe program (which I think may be paid), but you get to follow a doctor around, do actual medical charting, and see the medical field.

I'm in care extenders and have also volunteered at the med center as a regular volunteer.

Both do not give you the hands on experience I think you're expecting but care extenders is definitely more involved. You're basically a glorified volunteer but that glorifiedness gives you a little more importance nonetheless.

I'll answer any specific questions you may have...PM me if I don't respond I don't come here often any more and might forget about this thread..

It's better to do research for "hands-on experience," IMHO. I can prepare heparin-ized syringes, hook up endotracheal tubes from patients to machine, assist in holding gas mask to patient, hold up random body parts, etc.....

It all depends on what type of department you're working with.

does that include genitals?
