Hospitality as a career?

What do you guys all think of working in the hospitality sector as a career? I am not talking about performing room service nor ringing bells for valet parking. I am talking about the management sector of hospitality. Maybe for example, positioning as a manager in a large known hotel analyzing budgets, implementing new ideas, securing and organizing reservations, whatever the role a hotel manager would do.

If anyone has an experience or know people who are currently under that field, feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

There is a major such as Hotel Management, if I’m correct. However, I’m sure that these positions are extremely hard to achieve. If you do happen to land this job, though, I bet it would be interesting. I’ll let the big boys talk now =x

NYU has a very well known hospitality program at SCPS which is the school that has sports management as well as hospitality & tourism. BU offers a good program, so does Cornell and I’m sure a handful of other business schools should have programs geared for hospitality.
