stoves are hot, puppies are cute, no?

Whoever decided to make heat analogous to sex appeal?

I think the hotness also relates to body temp. Like a female can make a male feel "hot." I'm sure every guy has had instances where he has started to sweat upon entering a room full of beautiful women, or just walking past a pretty girl in the mall. Or maybe I'm just a loser who can't get anything...But that's my theory on where it came from. Also, it could be deduced linguistically where hot comes from some germanic word having to do with sex appeal and sex in general because msot of the time it isn't very cold. And germany was pretty cold back in the day (still is) and maybe they used the word ot indacte warmth from body contact with members of the opposite sex. Hmm, that was a load of bs. Your question was rhetorical, but it was fun to answer. :)

is at seem?

You are an excellent bs-er meestasi. I respect that.

In response to your other comment, you are a pig.

Who am I kidding? I really don't care, I just really wish I could feel outraged about something- ANYTHING. Outrage seems like it might be fun.

Hot = sex appeal

Cute = Adorable facial features, mannerisms, personality

Right now at the university of chicago I am sure that the math department is calculating the percentage of hotness among girls and guys and comparing it to the national average. The sociology department is conducting on the distinction made in contemporary culture between hot and cute, defining exactly what these terms mean in societal context. And I am sure that the history department is compiling a study on hotness at the university of chicago from the Great Depression to the present. I can see it now.

Scrapiron-- your comment amuses.

Meestasi-- your definition seems a little reversed when coming from girl's perspective. For me, the hot guys can be nice to look at but in general seem too "pretty" to me, even if that is not how they are conventionally perceived. I think attractive or handsome is a better way to describe someone that is more relatable?-- yet I would still "like to bang."

lol, the quotes make it seem like it's awkward. Heh, "like to bang" out of context that's just weird. And I know I'm a male chauvinist pig, but that's my take on the things. And I never hear girls talking about guys as cute, that makes them sound like a dog. Personally, in fron of girls I would say pretty or beautiful because I always hear girls *****ing about how degrading it is when guys call them "hot."

brook_u: whats the site for ur myspace and facebook?

Of course there will be hot guys at U of C, brooke_u. I'll be there.

www.myspace.com/brookeullery

haha, i'm glad, ollie.

who agrees that there's nothing better than a hot girl math major at the u of c?? yeaahhh

meetasi- I know it was...I actually prefer to say "I'd hit that." Out of context of course, we actually make the majority of our dirty jokes in AP gov.

Hot is a funny word. Can we say a guy is hot? Or is that degrading.

When I see an attractive guy, I say something to myself to the effect of "Michelangelo's David has NOTHING on him" and feel my entire body get really warm without actually blushing.

The guys that have that effect on me are hot.

I don't know how it works the other way around.

its not degreding...you can say a guy is hot...

at least I don't mind

Guess what brooke_u?

I think a hot girl math major is EXTRA hot because i'll be majoring in math myself!

Heh, I'd be flattered if a girl said I was hot, I've gotten an assorment of other comments though ranging from prick to ***** and everything in between.

brooke: I can't get to your facebook. :(

I don't get hot, cute, pretty, or beautiful from guys, only girls. And I'm straight. I've never been hit on or asked out by guys, yet I've been picked up by lesbians. I have no problems with other sexual preferences, but I wonder if I exude a strange vibe?

Oh hmm I've never been picked up by lesbians but have been the object of a young male's lesbian fantasies, FWIW.

For college facebook you need to be the person's "friend" and have a college facebook yourself.

For the being hit on by members of the same sex, I haven't had that happen yet, but then I ahven't met too mayn openly gay guys yet. Heh, strange vibe, I doubt it. I exude more strange vibes than any of you.
