Hot pots...

Ok, so - technically "hot pots" and "microwave ovens" are not allowed in residence halls. But how are students who like to drink LOTS of tea, i.e. me, supposed to heat up water? And no microwave? That means anytime you want to heat something up you have to go all the way to the basement of Carman (and I'm on the 11th floor)...

Is this rule strictly enforced? It seems impractical.

Electric teapot. Or is that a "hot pot"?

Yeah. Same thing. Hot pot = electric teapot.

I was wondering the same thing, actually.

I suppose I can deal with going to the basement to use my rice cooker, but doing that for the sake of hot water in general certainly seems overboard.

JJ has microwaves on each floor but I guess that doesnt help you since you're in carm :P

if all you think you will need is hot water, just get a hot pot thing. RA's dont really search your room for anything (unless its obvious you were doing something really wrong) but if one happens to glance into your room and sees a microwave, you might get written up since microwaves are so easy to spot. a hotpot on the other hand i cant imagine is something they will notice with a glance.

in any event, if they do notice it, you most likely wont get anything serious, just a warning to get rid of it.

there's a microwave on every floor in carmen, so that solves ur problem.

FarrCT--how sure are you about that, cause I heard there was only one in the basement

No there isn't FarrCT.

idk i spent a summer program there and there was one in the living room on top of the fridge.

Where did you live for your summer program? Carman doesn't have fridges in its lounges, and they are a far cry away from what you would call a living room.

It's possible that they added some furniture for the summer sessions. I know that window AC units are added to the Hartley building rooms for the summer program but are removed for the school year.

Yeah, the rules aren't strictly enforced. just don't leave it lying around in plain sight.

they just had a two chairs and a something i might call a sofa, and a tv, nothing fancy but it did work. so hey....
