hotchkiss essay questions..

im applying online and with a bit of trouble over which SSAT to send, I can't get past page 1 or 2 (i forget)..

so will anyone kindly tell me how "limiting" (word/character count) the essay question is? (and i took this off the paper app, are one of the prompts about making a creative response to things like can you hear me now etc?)

Hey,

Firstly I would try not to exceed 600 or so words, 500 is pushing it really. Try to fit your essay in the space provided.

Make sure your essay is GRAMMATICALLY CORRECT that is EXTREMELY important.

A few things you should consider to put in your essay:

Make sure that it will set you apart from everyone else, make sure that it is so unique that no one else will have a story like yours.

Try mentioning that you like the fact that Hotchkiss has an international head of school and you find that appealing because it offers "global perspectives" to the student body.

Try making your essay fun, and enlightening.

Try writing in grammatically correct well written english.
DO all of that and you should be fine. Good luck !

PS; How bad did your SSAT go ?

they're both 95th overall, but has a lower verbal skill than the other. problem is i took the good one last schoolyear (january), though we called some schools and they said it was alright.

thanks for the advice, but is there a word count in the online app? I'm guessing it would be 3500 characters (which is the equivalent to around 500-600 words, I guess) but i don't want to write up a long, winding essay only to find i'll have to chop it down to like 1500 characters or something XD

500 words is pushing it. id try 450ish

Does anyone know if 585 words for the exeter essay is ok?

You have to write it on the sheet anyway right? So see if it fits?

Right. Ahaha. Thanks :)
