Oxfordman- I’ve received an invitation to come early for preseason, but I don’t think it’d be too late to contact the coach and ask if you could participate. The coaches invited anyone to preseason who showed any kind of interest in the sport whatsoever on their application, whether the sport is a true passion for them or not. Even kids who only played for a year in middle school were invited, so I don’t think the coaches would have a problem extending the invite to a motivated athlete like you. Good luck!

How do I find the coach’s contact?

I’m not sure that what @hotchkisshopes said is correct. Of the three kids I know starting at Hotchkiss this fall, none of them were invited for preseason and all three played one of the fall team sports for many years and expressed an interest in playing at Hotchkiss. But @oxfordman, there’s certainly no downside in contacting the coach if you want.

Oh, i’m going to go ahead and assume that the invitations haven’t been mailed out yet. I’ll still contact the coach though.

Thx @hkissgurlz, I really appreciate all your reply, thx again!!

Are roommate notifications supposed to come on August 1 or just the first week of august

@soxmom and @oxfordman maybe this just applies to soccer? It is quite possible that who is invited is dependent on the coach. However I know that anyone who listed soccer on their application for girls was invited.
I received an invitation through email, but the schedule of mailings says that invitations are mailed with the rest of the information that comes in early August. Your invitation might becoming then. Good luck!

@confusedonhades I saw somewhere that the rooming information will be posted online on August 1. Unfortunately, I don’t remember where I saw that so I can’t go back and double check! I’m crossing my fingers for a single.

Okay good! I’m just so excited to find out who my roommate is, I want to know as soon as possible. I know they are supposed to send an email to your parents on how to access this, but I don’t know if that email will come earlier than August 1.

@confusedonhades
You ended up choosing a double?

@oxfordman Yeah I figured for my first year it’d be better for me to have a roommate because I’ll still have two years to have a single if I want. Plus, they kept saying that if you come in after prep year you’ll most likely have a roommate.

That’s reasonable. Are you planning on going to preseason?

No not I’m probably going to do club running or exercise and fitness. I think I’ll do interscholastic for winter and spring.

On a completely unrelated note has anyone seen the Hotchkiss instagram… I thought it was pretty cool haha :)

I’ll have to check out the Hotchkiss Instagram!! I haven’t seen that but I love the Lookbook!

Must have just been for girls, because my son is a soccer player and didn’t get an email inviting him for preseason. Which is fine, because he might decide to play football instead anyway.

Just checked out Hotchkiss Instagram—lovely! But my D has always been a
“T-shirt/jeans” type of gal, hope she’s not intimidated by all those fashionistas:-))

The dorms for lower mids and preps and Memo (the closest to main building, and is mostly singles), Bissel (has many doubles and singles), and Garland (the farthest away, but is the nicest dorm).

Okay thanks! Is garland mainly singles or doubles?

I’m a prep that got a single. Do you know what dorm I might be in?

@confusedonhades @prepschoolplease Garland is actually many doubles and singles; Bissell is actually almost all doubles. Tinker is the boys dorm with the most singles; it is the lookalike to Memorial (Memo). Wieler is mostly doubles, but Edelman is often mostly lower-mids.
