This is just a thread for all the people who are going to Hotchkiss next year! (It would be cool to know a few people before school actually starts - you can talk about Hotchkiss, or talk about anything random. Just make sure you introduce yourself first.)

I am (most likely) going to Hotchkiss, entering as a freshman girl. I'm from China.. any other Chinese/Hong Kong students out there going to Hotchkiss? (I need to start thinking about flights/carpools, since thats a major thing that is worrying my mom... XD)

hey vivsters, congratulations on your acceptance to Hotchkiss! you’re very very lucky. i’m still on the waitlist. xD but anyway, i read on your other thread that you were moved off the waitlist? is this true? if so, when & how? sorry for the irrelevant questions, it’s just that successful waitlist stories give me hope. :)

Yeah, I was originally waitlisted. I got in contact with Hotchkiss, managed to talk with Mr. Mckenzie (over the phone), and then they accepted me =) so I’m really happy. (my mom = not so happy about sending me so far away… but i think she has finally agreed for sure!!)

I would suggest you to keep in contact with the school. Don’t just talk to the AO’s, also talk to teachers/coaches, students, etc., try to get yourself noticed and let them know that you really want to go.

What date did you get moved off the waitlist and how did they contact you? My dad called them about me remaining on the waitlist, but the speaker on the phone (I don’t know who it was) told us that we should move on from Hotchkiss if we get a chance because there are many applicants on the waitlist, so I’ve basically given up hope. I have also emailed them once again expressing my interest and sending them a scan of my most recent report card. Thank you for your advice! Congratulations again. :)

I’m not sure about the date, but it was around a week? ago. They emailed me with the decision letter, and they told me my acceptance package would be mailed soon (waiting for it right now).

I made a thread like this a little while ago called “Future Bearcats.” A couple people posted there who are planning on attending. Hope that helps.
