Hotchkiss

OK, so here are my qualifications:

I am in 8th grade and currently taking Geometry, which my avergae is an 89.7 in
I am in french and getting an A in that
I am also getting an A+ in Earth Science as well as one in history
My English teacher really likes me and has submitted my work to sevral literary magazines and poetry contests
I am on the school's Magazine and Newspaper
I am a girl scout
I am also on a travel field hockey team

PLEASE RATE THIS!!!My friends think that it is ridiculous that I am considering Hotchkiss, tell me if you think I could possibly get in!
I also forgot to write on my first thread that I am African American, if that makes a difference at all!

Do you play any musical instruments?

your grades are exceptional and all, but you dont seem to have that many ECs.
what about your ssats?
and interviews??

You must first take the SSAT exam (Secondary School Admissions Test) & achieve an acceptable score. Your URM status will increase greatly your chance of admission.

I am going to take the later SSAT’s, and interviews coming in the spring

but the topic that I have been debating is to apply for freshman or sophomore because so many deadlines are approaching so quickly.

if you scheduled them already, then dont stop now.

I have not officially, but my parents and I will be planning everything out this weekend because my father is an alumnis and there is a seminar about Hotchkiss that he will be attending. While he is there, he will talk to staff and start signing me up

wait, did you send in the candidate profile?
oh and having your dad as an alumni increases your chance btw. ;)

You don’t look like that appealing of a candidate, going off what you’ve listed, do you have any other awards/other things that makes you really stand out from the crowd?

Not actual awards, but I have recieved like letters of congradualtions from writing associations…if that changes anything…I know, that I am not that unique, but I hear that a good interview can potentially make a major difference so I am hoping that that will increase my chnaces somewhat

I also play viola, where my orchestra won triple platinum, and I recieved special reconignition. I have also competed in tennis matches across my state

i play tennis too. i was watching the australian open today, frederer is amazing. sorry for my randomness.

Haha no, it is fine, I appreciate comments from a fellow tennis lover

lol. okaay.
btw, you need to get something big and something you are really comitted too.
idk if tennis is one of things?
is it?

Could it be academic, or would it have to be more extra curricular, because I love tennis as well as field hockey

you seem to tell us something new with every comment you make.
its usually something more extracurricular,
if you are good at tennis and really committed, that could be the hook.
or it could field hockey.

ok I am sorry for being so vague, but I wasn’t sure how much information people give out, I thought that just an overview was necesary, but then people ask me questions like what sports and instruments that I play and awards and I just thought that the academics were important so I am sorry if my profile is weird because I keep coming up with new random facts, but thats me, I’m random.

usually everyone tells as much as they can for an accurate chance. btw, grades arent the most important thing in the process. and im random too. :)

btw, maybe you should start a new thread and explain your grades and extracurriculars.
