Hotel Recommendations?

Now that my son has decided on attending ND in the fall as a freshman I am on the hunt for hotel accomodations for the move-in weekend in August. I guess a lot of people are more on the ball than I am because there are a lot of hotels that are already booked. I've only been to the campus once and stood at the Ivy Court Inn which has no rooms left. Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent place to stay?

If I book a hotel in Mishawaka is that far from the ND campus?

Thanks for any advice - I am a newbie at all of this! Preparing for freshman move-in seems pretty overwhelming right now!

Not to worry, Mishawaka is 10 minutes from campus, it is really just a continuation from South Bend. Hotels with addresses on Main St or listed as near the UP Mall are 10 minutes from campus (not including how long it will take you to snake onto campus, park etc).

Hotels in South Bend on Rt 933, also called Dixie Highway, are 5 minutes from campus. There is Comfort Inn plus all the usuals.

The Fairfield Inn on Angela Blvd is across the street from campus, at Eddy St Commons. Probably filled by now, though cannot beat the convenience.

The downtown hotesl, Doubletree and Magnuson Grand, probably have slightly less convenient parking for a crowded minivan full of stuff, these are high rise buildings with underground parking so it is not the same easy in and out of the others.

Good luck!

We were able to book a room @ the Fairfield by going through Anthony Travel. The link is on the ND website under parent information. I just booked yesterday, so perhaps some rooms are still available. Good luck!

Try the Marriott Residence Inn in Mishawaka in the Edison Lakes office park. Close, but off the beaten path by a few blocks.

My favorite is the Jameson Inn, on Rt 933. Not too fancy, but the price and location are good, and the staff has always been very helpful.

My parents stay at the Inn at St. Mary’s. The rates are good, rooms are big, plenty of parking, free breakfast, and very close to campus. It’s not fancy, but my mom likes it because it’s very clean and the people are really nice. It’s close to the toll road, too.
