Which one is better for Business Undergraduate Program:

Wharton or Hotel School at Cornell ???

Please comment in view of

difficulty of the course and work load (include competitiveness…cutthroat etc)

Campus life (including friendliness among students and helpfulness of the professors etc)

Job opportunity and advancement (including entrance salary, type of employers etc)

Chance of going to Graduate School (Ivy League0 after few year of working

I would say for business, go to wharton over the hotel school. The hotel school is the best for hotel administration and hospitality, but Wharton is the best for business.

wharton is business, hotel is specifically hospitality. unless you're looking to head into the hospitality business, pick wharton. Cornell has AEM, which is our regular business school, but it's not as good as wharton (yet :p)

i would take wharton, not only over hotel, but over engineering and arts/sciences, which are clearly, clearly more presitgious than the hotel school

If you get into both Cornell Hotel School and Wharton, disregarding location and all that stuff, Wharton would be far and away the better choice unless you are dead set on working in the hospitality industry. And even then, I can't see any reason to believe Wharton graduates would have a hard time working in the hotel management sector.

That said - you should still visit both campuses (if you get it or whatever) and choose for yourself. Difficulty-wise, the Hotel School at Cornell is thought of as the easiest school at Cornell...not sure about Wharton.

Also - I don't have the links handy - but if I remember correctly, only like 10-15% of Hotel School grads go on to graduate school directly after graduation, but that number is probably higher considering most MBA programs require some work experience.

I'll also pitch in to say Wharton is a better choice than Hotel School at Cornell if you're basing your decision on reputation and prestige of the program. But if you enjoy Cornell better, Hotel School is a viable option. Not only do you get to enjoy a mor enjoyable curriculum, I'm pretty sure Hotel School opens up many doors outside of the hotel industry as well. Also, the Hotel School offers more hands on and practical approach than Wharton. Also, Hotel School graduates gain acceptence to the top MBA programs.

I think what really confuse me inside: I like tasting different kind of food, I like to visit restaurants and thinking how to improve their service if any, but I like Business too

Wharton I think in prestigeeous name is better than Hotel School of Cronell...no wonder

My point is when choosing class Wharton Business or Hotel Cornell, which should be the first priority:

Interest

Name or job prospect

provided that my interest in Hotel Cornell is slightly greater than Wharton Business

if you're interested in the types of courses that the hotel school provides, then pick it over wharton. The Hotel school offers some fantasticly awesome classes, everybody i know in the hotel school loves it.

I'd say that interest should be your priority for choosing. A Cornell degree carries enough prestige as it is, you wont be getting any advantage by going to Wharton if the hospitality and restaurant management is the type of business you're interested in. If you're interested in pure business, then I'd pick wharton.

Interest and how much YOU like the campus should undoubtedly be your first priority. Choosing based on the name or prestige would be ridiculous (especially considering Cornell is still #1 in the hospitality industry).

Depends what you like. Wharton is more prestigious and is more established, but AEM (the Cornel undergraduate business program) is a great program. I'm an AEM major, and I love it.

what about the grading, someone told me that Wharton is graded by curve, that is the bottom students have to be chopped, while Hotel School is different..
