To all applicants to the hotel school: What did you think about the interview? Why do you most want to go to the school? What did you write about in essays? What do you think your biggest "hook" is and what do you think is the one thing that may hold you back? or any other things you want to talk about. We have 18 hours and 17 minutes as I write the post and I'm curious as to how others found out about the school and got interested.

i got a question! where do you guys plan on studying masters/grad, if at all? since most ppl say not to do it at your undergrad? have any of you guys considered sutdying in switzerland? thankss!

I have given some thought to it although I anticpitate giving greater though to it once I find out my decision. If I were accepted to Cornell and decided to get a masters I would most likely just get an MBA from a top business school and then go into hospitality with my undergrad degree. Unfortunately there are no masters programs that are all that strong with such a focus on hospitality and the program that they have at Cornell is mainly for people who applied elsewhere for other majors and realized too late that hospitality was there thing. I don't think I would go to Switzerland. I would imagine the alumni network and connection with companies would be greater in the US. I also feel that not many students at top universities pursue hospitality straight out of graduation which would allow me to possibly stand out. I haven't given much thought to it yet, but I think it's certainly possible to go to a great business masters program from the hotel school.

HotelschoolCornell...

My interview: I thought it went pretty well. The professor seemed to like me and we got along really well. The hour was over before I knew it.

My essays: My common app essay was about my father and his impact on me in our single-parent home.

My "hook up": My dashingly good looks, of course. Haha. I think I would have to go with a combination of superb recommendations, diverse activities at school, work experience, and pretty good SAT scores.

What could've held me back: Hmm... my SAT II scores were definitely below par compared to all my other stats.

Plans for the future: No clue. I'll live life as it comes at me. Or maybe I'll just suffer from withdrawl by the time I'm a junior and still don't know what to do in the future.
