Planning a visit this Columbus Day weekend. Any ideas on hotels (from modest to nice)? Much appreciated.

Look on travelocity-better hurry, I bet lots of places are booked.

The Marriott Courtyard and The Middlebury Inn are probably the most popular spots, but there are some other smaller hotels as well - The Swift House and Inn on the Green have also gotten some props from people we know who have stayed there.

You can also check out: [Middlebury Vermont Hotels, Middlebury VT Hotels, Middlebury Vermont Inns, Middlebury VT Lodging](http://www.addisoncounty.com/pages/visit.asp?content=lodging) which lists local and not so local places to stay.

We’ve enjoyed our stays at the Waybury Inn in East Middlebury when we’ve been up that way. Nice little tavern and restaurant in the B&B, and a very good Vermont breakfast comes with the price of the room. (No television, however).

Shoreham Inn

In addition to the above suggestions, there are a lot of good bed & breakfast places in the Middlebury area. However, this is leaf peeping season, prices tend to be higher and rooms tougher to find.

Check with Middlebury College to see if rooms at the Bread Loaf campus might be available.

All of the above are fine places to stay but you should be aware that this weekend is parents weekend, so it may be very difficult to book a place near the college on Fri and Sat nights.

Thanks all – good advice! Never thought there’d be a Marriott option (and thanks for the push OldBatesie – they only had 2 rooms left!)
