Hello,
I may have the opportunity to switch dorms and I think that I want to go through with it but would really like to get some advice.
I was assigned to a double room in a 9 person suite in Cuarto Thoreau. I was initially really disappointed because I had my heart set on being in Tercero. However, my roommates who I have talked to seem really nice and Thoreau does seem really beautiful.
I recently got in touch with a girl in a triple in Tercero Potter who may want to trade with me.
I really don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and really experience campus/ dorm life, but I’m a little nervous about giving up what may be a good situation and about the dynamics of a triple.
Should I do it?
Thanks!

You need to contact the housing office. Cuarto is not set up for “dorm” hall life. Don’t trade on your own! Fees for housing may change if you switch. You need to contact the Housing office. My daughter got into a triple at Tercero, which we did not want. We asked for a single or double. Worse part of it is that the girls who are sharing her room are good friends from their high school. Don’t they go over it at the high schools that you shouldn’t room with friends??? It is NOT recommended and my older daughter at her university said the triple occupants are always fighting. Oh well, good luck!!!

First you might want to figure out why the other girl wants to switch. If it has something to do with her roommates you may want to figure out what it is.

But assuming her roommates are fine, I personally would recommend making the switch. You’ll be hard pressed to find many students willing to switch to Cuarto, so this is a good opportunity. Also, if it turns out her roommates are awful, it will be easier for you to switch from Tercero to somewhere not in Cuarto than if you were already in Cuarto.
