My daughter just got accepted and is thrilled. We are both wondering about the dorm situation, what's good, what to avoid? Also about campus life? I know it's a small school but I'd like my daughter to also have the "college experience". Any current or former students that would comment would be great.

I haven’t seen it, but I know people who have, and overall it sounds quite nice (in my opinion). My mom saw it when she was in Boston and said it’s very much like NYU’s campus, if you’re familiar with that.

My friend also visited, and she said “It’s really urban. It’s not really a ‘campus’ but more of like a collection of buildings centered around the Boston Common. At first I was against going to an urban school, but the Emerson buildings are actually really nice and it DOES feel college-y. They have amazing facilities and they took us on a dorm tour and they were cool, too! They are high rise buildings that house several hundred students each… Sort of have an apartment type feel but the lobbies and stuff were really nice/giant… A bit like a hotel.”

My older D is a junior at Emerson and lived in Piano Row for 2 years (she is now in a apt on Beacon Hill). She loved the suite style living of PRow.
There really is no “campus” as it is in the middle of Boston but the classroom buildings are all within close proximity of each other. Boston Common is right across the street so there is a beautiful park setting close by.

Agree with Jilliebean’s description. Do not agree that it is similar to NYU. NYU buildings completely dominate whole contiguous blocks between Wash Sq Park and Broadway and from 4th Street up to Waverly, and spread out less densely from there. If you are standing in the middle of those blocks, it does feel like you are on a (very urban) campus. Not so with Emerson–it is a realtively small number of buildings in close proximity to each other, really not like the overhwelming presence of NYU. Not saying one is better than the other, I just don’t think they are that similar.
