Housing and LLCs

Does anyone know anything about the LLCs? Specifically NU Journeys, because I am coming in as an undeclared freshman and would be interested in going there to find a fitting major, but I'm not sure about the social aspects of it or what would happen if I declare a major early and then have to stay there the rest of the year. I'm pretty ignorant on the dorm situation, so if anyone else wants to add anything or talk about any LLCs, be my guest. And if there are any current Northeastern students here, please feel free to add your input about whatever LLC you are currently in or were in. Thank you!

I’m also curious about the LLCs. Does anyone know if we HAVE to join one or are they optional? Heard a lot about them at different schools, but is this just a subsection of housing and everyone is in some type of LLC?

LLCs are mandatory for freshmen. If you 100% do not like the sound of a LLC then there is one LLC where all different majors live (Fusion LLC) That would be just like a regular non-LLC dorm. Obviously in all LLCs there are activities offered based on the LLC topic, I don’t know what kind of activities Fusion does though.

If you don’t choose a LLC preference on your housing form they will choose a random one for you.

I wouldn’t get overly concerned about LLCs. They’re just one more way they try to help you meet students who might have interests in common who you might be friends with. That comes into play with who chooses to live there and what activities the RAs plan. But it doesn’t really strict you, I don’t think. My best friend lived in a dorm on e exact opposite side of campus freshman year.
If you’re undeclared to start and pick something early on, I don’t see why that would make an LLC for undeclareds particularly awkward. If anything, you could help the others since you’ve made a decision!
Pick something that looks interesting. Don’t stress over it. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to hang out with people and make friends in the dorms, classes, clubs, etc.

Alright, thank you both for the responses!!
