Housing app (roomate requests)?

From reading the housing website I am under the impression that UCSD bases housing preferences on the date that the app is recieved - you are guaranteed housing as long as u get it in but you will have priority to be placed in your college of choice and type of room based on when you apply.

If this is a correct understanding, my question is when can we request a roomate with a friend from highschool? And if this is done on the initial application, is there any way to make requests after this time?

My dilemma is that several of my friends are considering UCSD, but some are only considering, while others know for sure they will be going. We want to get our apps in relatively early, most likely before we all know if we are going or not. Therefore, we don’t want someone who is sure to be going to end up not getting a friend as a roomate becuase the friend ended up not going to UCSD. If it is possible to change roomate requests after turning in the app then this isnt a problem.

the initial app is very minimal. Its basically just a statement that you intend to live in on-campus housing. You don't need to decide the living arrangements just yet, and the application is not binding so you should fill it out as soon as you want. I don't think you fill out anything concerning roommates until later.

yeah and if you want to keep your friends, don't request them as roomies...

lol good point. besides, don't limit yourself to your old friends. there's plenty of great people out there! and u'll get to know more people, thus more connection, thus $$$. heheh

if you fill out a housing app, does that mean you have to go to ucsd?

nope. fill out the housing and if you do go there you will have a place to live

hey ... do you get charged more if you choose the "apartment like" option for the UCSD housing application?

yes, there is a whole pricing thing for each option (single, double, ratesaver and apartment)

here the res hall stuff, but i haven't looked into apartments because im going res hall
