Housing Applications

When is the deadline for filling out the housing applications?
Am I really late? I was actually deciding whether or not to live in a learning community, and I got a chance to talk to one of the SU students two days ago, which is why I didn't fill out the application yet.

When I tried opening it, this is the message I received:
"MyHousing was unable to locate your record with the Student ID provided. Please contact the housing office."

Help...?

haekim: First of all, the deadline to fill out the housing app is tomorrow if you want to choose a roommate between May 16 and 25; otherwise, I'm not sure there is a deadline....that being said, I think the request for the learning communities was May 1st (but don't quote me on that one)....

Anyway, do you have a net ID? If not, you need to go to p19 of the booklet sent with your admissions letter and follow the directions in the gray box.....When you get your net ID, you can go on My Slice to sign up for housing.....

I guess there was a problem with myslice. It works now!

Thanks, rodney. I already have my net ID though.

Any suggestions on whether I should get the 14 or 19 meal plan? Which is recommended?

i was suggested to get 19 meals for freshman year, and 14 for sophomore year..... since u will get to know the area better by ur 2nd year

Today is the deadline for the Housing Application. I'm getting the 14 meal plan but mostly because I'm not too much of a breakfast person anyways. 14 is the lowest plan freshmen can get. Other options are the 19 and Deluxe plans

deluxeee...gonna be fat unless i find someone to play tennis/run with

freezenthaw: I'm PMing you......

i would suggest 14 for freshman year, but that's just me...you can always switch it for second semester if you start out with 19, though.

Haekim--that message gets displayed pretty much anytime there's a massive onslaught on people logging on to MySlice. It happens right before housing registration, but generally not with courses (spread out enough). Don't freak out about it (if it happens again during the school year), although if it doesn't resolve itself in a day or two, you can go see Housing and they'll manually let you in.

Good luck to everybody; see y'all at orientation!

the orientation is the on the 1st day of school right??? O_O

orientation is a weird term--Syracuse calls it Syracuse Welcome...it's a whole bunch of events to get you acquainted with SU--game nights, trivia, etc etc. mostly, it's an opportunity to walk away with a lot of free food and prizes. hey, I won a Brita pitcher my year; you never know...

since SU is cool and has you do all the formal paperwork stuff over the summer, only fun things are left. You /do/ have to meet with your faculty adviser and Student Peer Adviser (usually from your home college) and go over a bit of registration/majors procedure, and there's usually some floor activities the first weekend, depending on your RA. other than that, it's a very free time to explore...and one of the few weekends you'll have without the responsibility of hw, so take advantage of it! (I highly recommend visiting Funk n' Waffles, particularly for open mic night on wednesdays...the music is funky and the waffles are hot!)

so it says i have no future room reservations. No future roomate selections. And I'm not on the waiting list. Basically it says I am not set/participating in anything as far as housing.

Am i supposed to complete something now? I already did the preliminary housing thing a few weeks ago with my meal plan and what not.

freeze: apparently, if you look at the tutorial, that's exactly what you are supposed to have as of this point (there isn't even a lottery number yet)....this myhousing thing is just designed for people who want to CHOOSE a roommate; the deadline is May 25th; I'm assuming after that, they will start the lottery, reservations and those who did not choose a roommate.....hope that helps...!! you are fine as long as you have a confirmation that you filled out the preliminary housing app.....

yep thanks rodney!

hope you all get good housing assignments.
