<p>food cost is lumped together with housing cost, but its not “included” (as in its not free). i believe you select your desired meal plan when you accept your housing offer, and plans range from 11 to 19 meals per week with the option of premier or not. check the housing thread for explanation of different room types and meal plans.</p>
<p>craigslist? i would recommend dorming for at least a year. you’ll save a lot of headache and hassle. you’ll make friends to look for an apartment with when you get here, plus you will be in LA so its easier to look for apartments for the following school year. yes, living in westwood is expensive.</p>

<p>You are guaranteed housing for 3 years, but most undergrads move off campus after two. You can apply the housing for the 4th year and most likely you would get it (around 70-80% got it this year I think). But living in the dorms for all 4 years is definitely boring and dull. So I suggest moving off campus after your second or third year.</p>
<p>Yes apts in LA is definitely expensive, but if you share it with 3 people (like a dorm) - its going to be around the same price as you are paying for the dorms in UCLA. But apts are much better - larger, with a kitchen - some even have balcony/yards.
