How are the dorms? Are the bathrooms shared in all of the dorms and are they shared only freshman year or all years?
Consider getting a single At st Mary’s. It’s nice and quiet and you get your own sink. Only problem is you won’t meet as many people… You win some and you lose some with the dorm situation.
It’s not as if you can request where you live, right? If my daughter could do that she’d be thrilled.
most freshmen live in south campus. You can’t really request where you live there. BUT you can somewhat figure out where you might end up. For example different learning communities live in certain dorms.
I’m pretty sure you can request for st mary single dorms. they always have room there. and people are always moving in throughout the year
Sounds like a lot of freshman will be in triples. Does anyone know if there will be room for a portable cart with drawers for extra storage? Lots of times they are stored underneath a bed that has been raised up but if the room is a triple, I"m thinking beds will be bunked. Not sure whether to buy one or not if there will be no room…
@schmoopiez there will probably be no room under your bed for that in a triple at least. Double rooms in stanford have beds with a good amount of storage space under the bed. triples…not so much room. if any at all.
Housing will be pretty crazy these next few years with our committal rate going up and acceptance rate going down. I was in a forced triple as a freshman and yes it’s small, but nothing too hard to live in. All bathrooms as a freshman are communal. There definitely is under-bed storage space as well; they give that info on their housing page of the website. Definitely communicate with your roommates though, so you don’t all bring the same things.
