How is the availability of on-campus housing at WashU? I've been accepted as a transfer and housing is not guaranteed but granted on a first-come basis. I'm still waiting on my other top choice school's admission decision before I make a decision, but I plan on paying the enrollment deposit ($200) for now; I'm wondering whether I should do the same for housing ($250).

I heard it was 100% guaranteed for all 4 undergraduate years.

Unfortunately, that is only for those accepted as freshman. Transfers receive housing on a first-come basis. Anyways, I received my packet in the mail today and they sent everything except the housing application, though I indicated in my essay and other documents that I wanted to live on campus. Do you think they're hinting that housing is short, as I've heard the yield rate was quite high last year and the university is pushing towards over-enrollment?

call Wash U asap, sorry my info was incorrect.

thanks. As the official deadline isn't until April 15th, and I've just received an admission decision early because WashU is cool like that, I'm not too worried about it, but I'll call tomorrow.

Hey Brand--
Last year I was told that if you did NOT receive a housing application in your packet then you would not be able to live on campus. I am not sure if that is the same this year though, so this might be a good thing to call and ask about.

ahh that's so bad to hear. WashU may not get my money then. ;)

last year, almost no one got into washu from the wait list. we had housing problems as upperclassmen were forced to move off campus because the incoming freshmen class was bigger than ever. if it happens again this year, chances are that you won't be able to get on campus housing.
