Do Wash U transfers get on-campus housing?

Does anyone know what the deal is?

When do we find out? What are our odds? what have they done in the years prior?

Housing assignments typically come out mid July. As for the other two questions your best bet is to call Residential Life. Wash U was significantly over enrolled two years ago. That class are now the rising juniors, and that should lessen some of the population pressure on the South 40, but Wash U's own website (Housing | Orientation at Washington University in St. Louis) describes on-campus housing for transfer students as "very limited."

My son got his housing late in the summer. He was a sophomore transfer in 2007. His three other roomates who also were sophomore transfers got housing in the dorms as well. We just kept calling Residential Life until we spoke to someone who knew what was going on. Up until that point we had been speaking to a student who answered the phones and didn't have a clue. I believe that the school waits until all current students have made their final decisions on housing which is late in the summer. There is a cut off when they have to make a final payment.

I called housing a few days ago and was informed that at that time, housing was still availiable for transfers.

Hey, if we all get screwed and anyone needs a roommate pm me! You can easily find an apartment for cheaper than the dorms anyways.

I just want to live in a dorm at first so I can get to know more people.

EmilySpinach, "My son got his housing late in the summer" I am entering as a junior transfer. Is it more difficult to get on-campus housing as a junior transfer than as a sophomre transfer? Do you remember who you spoke with in the ResLife office? I have sent emails and have been told I am on the waitlist, but that's all they'll tell me. What are the odds? Should I start searching for off-campus place?

re-nuh, Which housing office did you call? Did you remember who you spoke with? What kind of housing was still available (e.g., South 40, Northside, singles, doubles)? I real confused about the transfer housing process.
