Housing Choice for incoming freshmen

It is almost the last days of make CAR. Please help us to make up minds. Thank you!
which one is good? could you put the order of preference among these choices?

De Neve Plaza
Rieber Terrace
Rieber Vista
Hedrick Summit

Also, will the housing service place a freshman with sophomore/junior/senior in a room?

One HUGE thing that De Neve has going for it is that it is the closest to campus (Bruin Walk is literally right across the street, no additional long hills or staircases necessary). There is also a dining hall in one of the buildings. Late Night (wings, chicken nuggets, curly fries) is located there as well. There’s also De Neve Auditorium where they show free movies quite often. However, if you want access to anything further up the hill (Sunset Recreation Center, Rendezvous (passable Asian/Mexican food, also open late) & Bruin Cafe (smoothies/pastries/ice cream/specialty coffee drinks/tea, open late)), you have to walk up. Another thing - some of the buildings in De Neve have a window view of construction.

Rieber Vista and Rieber Terrace are very similar. They are in a central location on the hill: you don’t have to walk too far to get anywhere. But it takes an extra 5 minutes to get to campus compared to De Neve. Rendezvous is located inside Terrace. A new dining hall is opening in Rieber Hall, just across the plaza.

Hedrick Summit is on the top of the hill. You will enjoy 15-minute walks to campus at best (and that’s not leisurely walking, mind you). Also, they are closing Hedrick dining hall this year, so you will always have to walk relatively far for food (there are no other eateries on the Hedrick level).

If I had to rank the buildings in order of preference, it would be exactly the order you listed them in: De Neve, Rieber Terrace, Rieber Vista, Hedrick Summit.

I know people who ended up with sophomore/junior/senior roommates, but it’s very uncommon. And even if you do end up with a non-freshman, all the people I’ve talked to who had non-freshman roommates seemed to get along just fine with them.

Thanks @umbers

Anyone else can let me know your thoughts?

Pretty much since all the buildings are the same, I’d rate it by distance also. If getting access to food is the most important lol then I’d say 1. rieber terrace or vista. 2. denve or hedrick. I went with deneve first year which was great for being so close to campus but I’m a fatass so I choose Rieber next year =D
