Housing Choices for Carlson?

We are considering Carlson and want to know which dorms are closest and most accessible to the classrooms and most preferrable? Any suggestions?
Thank you,

zini2001…Carlson is located on the West Bank, so Middlebrook would be the most convenient to Carlson itself. I’d imagine at least some of your classes will be on the East Bank as well, so in any case you’ll have to cross the Washington St. bridge periodically.

Our D1 is currently a junior, and lived in MIddlebrook her freshman year. IIRC, there are no community bathrooms in Middlebrook. The majority of the rooms are doubles, with 2 rooms (4 students) sharing a semi-private bathroom across the hall from their rooms. The food there was very good (at least by dorm standards  ) and many considered it the best dining area on the campus meal plan…at least at the time (don’t know anything about the new dorm). It’s generally considered to be “more quiet” than the Superblock dorms (Honors LLC is located in Middlebrook), although you can find rowdiness there and quiet areas in the Superblock if you want. D1 really enjoyed her year in Middlebrook, but wanted a little more freedom and autonomy. She has lived in the University Village on-campus apartments the last 2 years and will be there again during her senior year.

I don’t know what percentage of your classes will be held in Carlson versus East Bank or St Paul campus, but my guess would be you’ll have to travel between banks/campuses no matter where you live.

Can u tell me the walking distance between Middlebrook and Carlson?

@Nemesis - very, very close. Here’s the map, click on “west bank” then note the shaded area marked “student housing” (that’s Middlebrook) and where Carlson is. Note that Hanson has a walkway if needed.

Walking distance is maybe one and a half blocks. You walk past the Art building, cross a street, walk past a parking ramp and you’re there.
