Yeeeessss...I am only in El Paso! 30 minutes away from Las Cruces, NM. Go skiing in Ruidoso every year and family lives in Alb.

haha, for folks who for some odd reason chose to be forthcoming with their views on chicago once they already were a part of its community, they moan an awful lot.

sorry for the lack of clarity, i was referring to the POV link

Yeah, but atleast you get a general idea about the place....minus the whining...
I guess we'll be prepared.

I live in Max Palevsky and it's very, very convenient. Close to campus, close to Ratners, close to the dining hall. Max P is a very social and lively place, especially due to the doubles - lots of people hang out in the hallway or leave their door open. Many Shoreland people complain about waiting for the bus in the cold in order to get to campus, but they have a nice view outside their windows. Pierce has very small rooms...I found them to be unsightly...Max P definitely spoils you. Also, sharing a toilet/shower amongst four people seems more convenient than those community bathrooms.

Yes! A current UChicago student on the board! Welcome to CC, classof08! Glad to have you here.

And thanks for your advice on Max P. After reading the housing brochures that came in the acceptance packet, I find Max P quite comfortable.

Thanks for the forewarning on Broadview, keelee2. Where'd that tidbit come from?

I go to the UofC...I know two people who lived there in their first year...one moved out to Max after the first quarter, the other suffered it out and now lives off campus. They couldn't stand it. It is extremely anti-social.

Thanks!
I put Max P as my first choice last year followed by Snell-Hitch**** and BJ. (I chose based on proximity for the most part.) I'm very happy that I got into Max P though. I've only visited BJ and Pierce so far, but both seem rather unsightly and not as social as Max P. Best of luck getting into the dorm you want! :)

the censor makes everything look dirty minded!

Unsightly how? O.o heh

Hey classof08, were you a RD or EA applicant? Just wondering

The singles I've seen in BJ were tiny... They have some nice rooms, but I believe those are only for upperclassmen. The doubles in Pierce were pretty cramped too, but some have a nice view of the Henry Crown Field and parts of campus. The rooms in Pierce also just have little nooks instead of an actual closet like Max P.
