Housing Deposit

If you are attending Cal through all financial aid, will the $500 deposit be deferred? This is the case for the SIR, but is it the same for housing?

hm. im wondering the same thing. it says that if you get financial aid, you only have to pay 250.00 by the first (housing contract) due date.

i am getting some money from cal...basically a bit of mertis scholarship, so i dont know what i have to pay by july 1st.

I think if you are getting money at all, you need to pay the 250. If its all loans (like me) you have to pay the full 500 :-(

hm..i guess i'll just email them and figure it out. geeze. i should probably send the contract first class mail, so i know it gets there by july 1st!

it doesn't matter, as long as you send the deposit. they aren't going to check if you're actually getting aid or not, they just need to know for sure that you're serious about acquiring housing. if you ask them, they'll exempt you from the deposit. it's that simple. and anyways, the deposit goes towards your costs anyways, so unless you're on full grants you don't need to be concerned.
