After acceptance, is housing on a first-come, first-serve basis?

Yes, it is first come first serve.

The way we read the info from PSU was that the housing deposit was part of the enrollment/acceptance deposit. Some schools allow you to make a housing deposit BEFORE you formally accept - but that wasn’t the way this letter read.

Are we mis-interpreting this?

My son will most likely be at Penn State - but he wants to visit a couple of other campuses before making a final decision. We are also waiting to hear from the Honors College.

Send the deposit asap! It not only determines your housing but also the date you get to register for classes. From what I remember, it is partially refundable. Keep in mind that an entire group of kids were accepted in Nov and Dec that will already be ahead for class registration.

Will do. Thanks.

FYI - none of the $300 I had to pay (general fee + enrollment fee + housing fee) is refundable. But…the likelihood is high that he will be there next year - so worth it!

As far as registering for classes, you do that at FTCAP. Kids who are taking summer courses do FTCAP first, so they get to register for (fall) classes first. It all depends on when you do FTCAP.
