Housing Deposit Question

I was accepted to Penn State University Park back in December but am waiting for a decision from Pittsburgh, which most likely won't be good...

Anyway, I was wondering. Is it possible for PSU to become "overbooked"? I'm most likely going to accept PSU but I was worried that I might take too long and they might become overbooked. Is that even possible or am I worrying about nothing?

I know there's a May 1st deadline, I'm aware. But Pittsburgh will most likely give me my decision around late March so until then, I won't be sending PSU my housing deposit.

Housing is guaranteed for freshmen at UP, if that’s what you’re asking.

Sorry if my wording was unclear. I haven’t paid my housing deposit yet because of other pending college decisions. Realistically, other applicants will have gotten accepted while I wait. So I was wondering if they all pay their housing deposits before me, will I become “overbooked” and lose my spot in University Park? If that makes sense…

Sorry. I worry too much.

I think your main risk is you will be lower in priority in your housing choice. You’ll get housing, maybe just not your first choice if you wait to pay the deposit a while. Surprised you’re worried about Pitt if you got iito PSU. I would think it’s harder to get into PSU.

You won’t lose your spot at PSU and housing is guaranteed for freshmen. Worst case scenario --you may end up in supplemental housing. This means about 4 -8 students housed in a TV lounge. Sounds like as other students drop out, they reassign those students in supplemental to regular rooms, but I think it could end up being for the whole semester or year. I think if you send in your deposit by the end of March you will be OK. You may not get your first choice of housing, but you’ll probably be early enough to avoid being placed in supplemental housing.
