Quick question regarding on-campus housing for transfer students:

To my knowledge, Rice doesn't guarantee on-campus housing for transfer students. Does anyone have an idea of how likely it is that a transfer student will be forced to live off campus? Because the residential college system seems to be such a large part of the social life at Rice, I'd really prefer to live on campus (in the event that I'm accepted of course). For any current students, does living off campus have a significant impact on one's social life?

Not too long ago, someone told me that they’re going to start guaranteeing transfer housing starting this fall. I took a quick look and it seems like they’ve been working on getting through with that since last year.

It looks like shortly after, they voted and passed the resolution.

I can only hope this means that starting in Fall 2014, transfers automatically live in the residential colleges.

Wow that’s a huge relief. Hopefully this starts Fall 2014…

Transfers are guaranteed housing for the Fall of 2014 (this is new this year!)
