Housing for Transfer Students

Hey everyone, I just got accepted to the College of Engineering. I was wondering where all of the transfer students are planning on residing or if anyone has any idea of what/where the best apartments are?

My kids like to live “downtown”. This is the area south of campus below College Ave. You can walk to campus/parties/pretty much everything. My daughter lived in a beautiful townhouse one year about 1 1/2 miles from campus, but hated relying on the bus. She had a few problems where the last bus was full around 2am on the weekend and they had to take a taxi home from a club or party. My kids have rented through ARPM and the Apartment Store. Just be aware that most of the apartments are already rented for next school year, so your selection will be limited. The leases usually run from August to August and the tenants are asked for a renewal committment in October or November. At that time, the apartments are offered to be rented for the next August. My son applied for his apartment for next year last October. Good luck.

As an engineering student you might want to avoid the “Beaver Canyon” area, on Beaver west of Garner. With lots of students jammed into high-rise buildings, it tends to be noisy and where a lot of the bad behavior we hear about occurs. (Several years ago an ordinance was passed requiring that all exterior balconies have identifying numbers so police could tell where things were being thrown from.)
