housing help!!!!

i need opinions on which housing is better for freshmen: John Jay double or a Hartley double?

Hartley Cuz I Will Live There

The walk-through of JJ gives you some privacy and is closer to a single, so that's an obvious advantage. On the other hand, the Hartley double is a decent sized room in a building that isn't as gross as JJ and offers the benefits of suite-style living (lounge, kitchen, etc.).

could you explain the "gross" part?

yeah...an elaboration on the "gross" part would be appreciated lol

Is John Jay really as hot and dirty as I hear? please respond!

Sorry to scare you all. JJ isn't full of mold and rats or anything like that. I meant gross in that JJ is an old building that could use a renovation, requires you to wait 5-10 minutes for the elevators, etc.

John Jay elevators are pretty slow, and there's no a/c so during warmer periods it's kind of uncomfortable to be in your room.

Is hartley any better in terms of temperature?

For John Jay, do you recommend a window fan, floor fan or table top fan? Thanx.

I recommend John Jay for the social life. Nearly half the freshman class will be there, so there will be better opportunities to meet people. If you live in Hartley, you will be more isolated and miss out on the "floor life" that ppl in JJ and Carman have. Keep in mind that many of your friends are made during freshman year.
