I'm choosing my freshmen housing right now and I have this sort of theory in mind... And I'm wondering if some upperclassmen can give me advice.

I really want to live at Hayden but I would also be really happy with Third North. However, I feel like Hayden is such a cliche number one that my chances are very unlikely (also heard that ED students get Hayden first.) So my theory is that if I put Hayden first and Third North second, then when they go down the list, they'll put as many people in their first choice as possible. That means Hayden will fill up but also Third North. Therefore, I should just put Third North as my number one because I have a better chance of getting it and that way. I don't "waste" my number one slot.

Or should I just do Hayden and risk getting a poor dorm? Does my theory make any sense? lol

I’d rather not go to Hayden. The one advantage it has is probably how close it is to all the classrooms… that’s about it. The cafeteria ( imo ) sucks, only good thing about it is the cookies!!! The inside of Hayden looks like a ghetto. Third north is pretty neat, and you get a kitchen (exciting, i know i know). But it’s like a 10 minute walk to Washington SQ park which is where most of the classes are at. I live in founders, we are half a block away from T-North. We don’t get a cafe but we do have really big dorm rooms. T-north and founders are also close to palladium (Gym/Best Cafe imo).

If you are set on Hayden… your plan sounds very complicated but it might just work. I’d say go with it ha.

At yesterday’s Weekend on the Square event, there was a HUGE line to see Hayden, but no lines to see some other dorms. I am guessing that many will apply to Hayden based on location. Our daughter will be ranking other dorms higher.
