Housing Option

HIGH RISE PLAZAS - Rieber Vista, Rieber Terrace, Hedrick Summit
-slightly more quiet than res halls, but more social than regular plazas because of their layout (big building, large floors)
-shared or private bathrooms, which contribute to the quietness since people arent forced to leave their room
-slightly larger rooms
-buildings are fairly new: 2-3 years old
-location: vista and terrace are in rieber court, about midway up "the hill". summit is in hedrick court, furthest up "the hill"
-price: shared triple < shared double < private triple < private double < shared single

Hi :) I am applying for housing and want to know the differences among Rieber Vista, Rieber Terrace, and Hedrick Summit.

Which one is closer to the biochemistry department?? and is there any building that only allows boys only or boys+girls mixed? thank you!

Dorms are coed. Come to bruinday to visit housing! Check UCLA Campus map [UCLA General Services Campus Map](UCLA Campus Map)

Rieber Terrace and Rieber Vista are essentially twins. Rieber Terrace has better cell signal. A cafe is also built into the side of Rieber Terrace. You just need to get to the first floor, leave the building, and walk a little to get food.

Hederick Summit considerably up a hill. It won’t take more than 4 minutes to get from either of the Riebers to Hederick, but it is uphill.

Rieber Terrace and and Vista and Hederick Summit are all recently built/renovated so they’re all nice buildings. All are residential plazas. There is no considerable difference that should matter other than the Riebers are downhill of Hederick. All the dorms are placed in the North-Western chunk of the campus; they are all essentially equally far from the Chemistry and Biochemistry department, except you need to go up a hill to get to Hederick. Again, at most a 4 minute walk.

All dorm floors are co-ed. All dorm rooms (and their shared bathroom partners) are same-sex. There may be a pilot program allowing an extremely small number of mixed-gender rooms to see if that’s a possibility in the future, but regular students will not be placed in that. You may lived next to a boy or next to a girl, but you will share the bathroom with your same gender.

*you’d have to be walking pretty slowly to take 4 min to get from rieber to hedrick, so maybe more like 2 min… but yeah, all the dorms are right next to each other anyways, hedrick is essentially just an extra flight of stairs
