<p>Ok so ill be attending ut next fall and need to figure out where I should stay.
This is what im looking for
1. something close to campus
2. im majoring in economics (liberal arts)
3. somewhere to park my car
4. i would prefer to have my own room</p>
<p>There are a lot of threads on housing. All private dorms are close to the campus. All housing done through UT Austin itself are on-campus. I have heard Castilian, a private dorm, is the closest to the Liberal Arts School. I am not familiar with the on-campus dorms.</p>
<p>As for your own room, they are very expensive to get a single dorm room and not recommended because you need to make friends. Good luck.</p>
<p>The Castilian is good for your choice. and own room (plenty of singles in the castilian). or get an apartment on west or north campus.</p>

<p>I think West campus would be closest to the liberal arts college. just search for some apartments near West Campus. However, the rent for West Campus would run around 700-1000 dollars per month for a single bedroom. I am trying to find a cheap place to live myself the next year.</p>

<p>Most apartments in Austin are not furnished. Though you can rent furniture for a price. The only places that are furnished are places like off-campus dorms such as Dobie & Castilian or some apartments like The Ballpark and Longhorn Landing (South/Riverside).</p>
<p>I’m looking for an apartment myself if I don’t get a dorm at UT for a transfer.</p>

And what furniture would one need; would i be alright with a bed and a dresser or would i need more</p>

<p>Craigslist is popular source for inexpensive furniture. UT also hosts a big garage sale in Gregory Gym every August. If you prefer new, Ikea is just up I-35 in Round Rock.</p>

<p>Try the coops. Maybe some have single rooms available; it is worth investigating. They are furnished. You would meet a lot of people if you live in a coop, and it will be really inexpensive if you can put four hours a week toward room upkeep. Plus you will always have someone to eat dinner with - and you won’t always have to cook.</p>
<p>Taos is so close to campus it is practically on campus.</p>
<p>Nueces is basically furnished apartments, each with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and it only requires 2 hours a week but doesn’t serve meals.</p>

<p>Jaysen, if you are moving into an unfurnished apartment, you will need a table and chairs for eating dinner and dishes and pots and pans, too, unless you find roommates who have all of this and are willing to share.</p>
<p>We’re looking at Taos for next year for my son. They had rooms left for women for this fall, but I think they’re full for men. I e-mailed them, and they said my son can go ahead and apply for next year if he wants.</p>

<p>You could apply and try to get a room on campus but if you have not yet applied for a room on campus, it is getting very late to get one, especially for a transfer. I think you are unlikely to get an on campus room. You could email housing and ask them.</p>
<p>The Castilian is right across the street from Kinsolving; really almost on campus and great parking. It might suit you. They generally have rooms available at this time of year, although maybe only double rooms. I am not sure about that. That is an option for you. </p>
<p>One of last year’s transfers said later that she was glad she ended up in Dobie and that she liked it there quite a bit. I don’t know what the parking situation is there.</p>

<p>Last year a transfer student who was hoping for a dorm room found out in June that she wasn’t going to get one and had no trouble getting a room in Dobie at that time. Her username was TMT90.
